My wife can sleep soundly on back back of my Ultra. At least until my buddies Yellow Lab, Nick, who rode in his sidecar would bark. I miss Nick. R. I. P.
Isn't this situation potentially dangerous to the sleeping passenger? It appears the order would be nodding off, drifting to one side, actually falling off, then possibly getting run over and mangled by the car behind? If it wouldn't seem ridiculous, I thought at one time of attaching a long belt around the backrest and also around the passenger (as sort of a seatbelt) to help prevent the above from happening.
Getting on the bike is potentially dangerous for the passenger???
My GF pretty much stays dead center on the bike. I just barely touch the brakes and she reacts. I don't see her falling off...

Doesn't happen! And don't be alarmed when your passenger does fall asleep. Our inner ear does not sleep, so if your passenger starts to move sideways be assured they will wake up. If you ever feel a little jerk behind, its because that has just happened. Like as not it will happen again in a few minutes, as they fall asleep almost immediately, and so the cycle continues!
my wife fainted (due to dehydration ) and fell off the back of my old heritage. i had just left a stop sign so wasnt going very fast. she went down face first, her foot was tangled in the floorboad , so that i couldnt put the bike over on kikstand to help her...luckly we were riding with some friends in back.. were able to get to her.....had the intersection blocked, police, ambulance arrived took her to hospital for the night...we were very lucky could have been alot worse...whenever i feel her helmet clunk the back of me now, i panic
My wife said she dozed off and fell off her boyfriends bike back when she was in her early 20's. Didn't get hurt, just scared enough, that to this day she still won't ride 2 up.
Hence the solo setup.
My wife does it all the time, I just lean back and use her as my backrest, and she stays in perfect position. she rides as good alseep as awake. I trainered her good.
I agree. When I know she is asleep , which is when she's not talking or dancing
to ZZ Top , I know she's out. I just lean back & pin her in. She's not going anywhere.
