after reading many reviews on here both for and against Lyndall Z+ brake pads, I decided to give them a try and bought 3 sets about a month ago, many complained about a squeal and this was not a problem for me, I got zero squeal in the front and just a hint of a squeal on the back as the bike stopped, braking both ends was easily 30% better than stock, I was in love til this weekend, I got caught in the rain and lost probably 75% of my braking power while in the rain, as soon as I rode out of the rain they were perfect again. I called and talked to Paul Kittrell the owner of Lyndall and he said they are aware of the issue and are in the process of changing the Z+ pads, he said the Gold+ will not do this and is sending me 3 sets of Gold+ no charge in exchange, I leave in a few weeks for 2 weeks in North Carolina where I will get caught in the rain a few times (I always have) and Paul asked I put them through a good test and do a write of my thoughts on here when I get back, I couldn't ask for anymore from them and I will updated everyone with my results after my trip
I took a 3,500 mile road trip last week to Arkansas, and got caught in a couple of rainstorms. No issues with the Z+ pads in the rain at all. Same deal with the Night Train, which has had Lyndalls on it for 2 years.
yea 05train, that's what is crazy, Paul said they know why it is happening now just not why it doesn't do it on all bikes, I guess different brakes , rotors etc all make a difference,I hope the Gold+ work as I loved the dust free and how well they stopped when I was dry, way better than stock
I don't have a problem in the rain with them either but I do have their full floating rotors so I wonder if that is the differnce. They never squeek either I really like them and no more brake dust!
could be I have floating rotor on the rear and not the front, front 2 are stainless steel that match my rims, I didn't notice the problem in the rear so much but definately in the front, hope the Gold+ work, Paul is super nice and very customer service friendly
Educate me fellas....I have stock HD pads dual cal's in front single in rear Brembo cals...I never had a problem with stopping. Not to be a smart *** but if I wanted to stop faster I guess I would just squeeze harder or step harder on the rear....
Dust....? Not really to speak of......So what's the issue with the HD pads?
Is it price? Fill me in...I'll be needing brakes sooner than later and I appreciate what you guys know on the topic. Thanks
