Almost as good as an oil thread is the great exhaust gasket debate.

I prefer the skinny thin SE type gaskets. The big thick tapered ones squish out into the exhaust port and can block LOTS of flow. I used the SE gaskets on my Sportsters after seeing how badly the stock ones blocked the port.

No sense in putting on a hi flow exhaust on and not letting it flow.

Yes, I realize I may get leaks.

Got it on. As expected, it sounds SWEET! Like a well tuned V8 at full tilt. It is considerably louder than the old touring muffs but I'll live with it. As long as I can hear my tunes and not get a headache, we're good to go.

I did have to use the thicker stock gaskets as the SE ones leaked from the git go. They've redesigned them since I last had a set and they don't seem to be as likely to squish into the port.

SuperTrapp has a forum and the gurus there recommend 16-18 disks to start. I put 16 on to be on the quiet side. It's plenty loud as is.

I have the Supermeg also. My motor builder runs it on his bike and I liked that fact as well as that it is tuneable. Plus it is not as loud as the rineharts I was running. My tuner came up with 13 diskes with an open end cap worked the best with my 103 build (114 hp and 108 tq) The only issue I have is the heat on the right side from both pipes collecting there. I plan on wrapping the pipes with heat tape this weekend to see if that will reduce that.

Good deal. My buddies tell me that mine sounds like a hot v8 as well. I ended up using all the discs that it came with. Mine was dyno tuned and the tuner tried different combos to find the best one, even tried without the end cap. Something I did though was deburr the edges of all the discs because they were so rough. It's definately a unique sound.

Thought I'd give a brief update after a few miles.

First off, the pipe is louder than I'd like. Of course, sound is a personal preference. If it made no sound at all, I wouldn't be disappointed. The sound that it does make is nice, though. I might try out 14 disks to see what that is like. Ah the joy of a tunable exhaust.

Second, the engine hasn't pinged at all since I added the pipe. I run the lowest octane I can and with the touring mufflers there was always at least a little ping if not more. I don't know if it's the pipe or the fuel curve in the PCIII but there's a definite improvement there.

I haven't yet been in a high heat situation so I can't comment on how the pipe has effected the leg frying situation.

I'm taking off for a long weekend in the mountains so we'll give 'er a work out and see how it goes.
