I think its all personal preference however from my perspective I thought my 2010 SE Ultra looked very unfinished on the left side with nothing replacing the stock pipe. I considered going to a 2:1:2 that was more performance oriented than the stock setup. In the end, I wanted the absolute best exhaust for the engine build I did and that meant installing the D&D FatCat.

Absolutely no regrets on using that exhaust so far. Tremendous improvement in performance. I tried the bike with and without the ghost pipe (you can see pics at the link below). After riding for a while I decided I simply liked the look of 2 slash cut pipes coming out the back end AND I wanted the performance of a 2:1. There's not a person I've ridden with or that has stopped to ask me about the bike that would have ever guessed the left side wasn't connected to the engine.

So...the only real consideration is whether having a ghost pipe bothers you or makes you feel better about the look of your bike. Think of it like any other chrome cover on the bike that was installed for the sole purpose of improving the esthetics of the bike....for your tastes...no one elses.

For me the call was actually pretty easy after trying it both ways.

Go for the ghost.
