Just as fast as I can peddle. J/k...anywhere from 5 under to 5 over depending on how I'm feeling.

Last year my son and I left my house in Illinois and we stopped for the night at the Best Western in Sturgis 13 hours later. That was 856 miles of all interstate. We were at 80-85 So with the stops for food, fuel and whatever, we were at almost 66 mph average. That is the highest I ever achieved.

He was on an 06 Street Bob with the TC88. I was on a Buell Ulysses with the 1200cc Evo.

That was just the start of the 9K ride. The bikes did just fine. We both got 50 mpg.

WOW! Just re-read the subject of this thread. I really went off-topic! Sorry for the rant!
RE: the topic - about 5 over and try to never get more than 10 over.......unless I feel like it and think I can get away with it (yes I have been up in the triple digits a few times just to say I did.......and no, I did NOT write myself a ticket!!!)

I'm sitting here wondering if posts like this could come back to haunt me.......oh well, I'm close enough to retirement I don't really give a rat's rear end!

Don't be - I think you're dead right.
5 over in the left lane and not willing to move over is a recipe for road rage. And it makes you a ******.

Oh, and I generally like to run between 70-80. I'm happy to run at 3200 all day. No worries.

In this country, speeds are not that high where youcant run the usual 5 mph over the posted and not worry about your bike.

I typically run 5-10 mph over the posted limit. But I will run a little faster if the mood hits me.

I typically ride a tad faster then traffic on the Eway, and usually in the left lane. Anywhere from 75 - 90. I do that for a couple reasons:
A) I like to ride fast.
B) The left lane is usually the safest, in my opinion, because you don't deal with merging traffic, and usually have an escape route (shoulder), which I've used several times, over my many miles. The middle lane seems the most dangerous to me, for that reason.
A couple observations though. I've passed slower traffic and put down some serious distance from them, over several miles, only to meet them again at a gas or food stop down the road. Tortoise and the Hair comes to mind. Also, the difference in time of doing 70 and 75 over an hour, is equivalent to the time it takes to get all your gear off at a stop (OK maybe not - but close).
My mileage also deteriorates drastically over 70.
All that said - I still can't drive slow.

+50 to slow drivers in the fast lane! #1 pet peave!!!!
