Default HD Premium Air Horn Issue

This is kind of strange. I rode my Ultra Classic to work and parked it in the Fire Station Bay. I had to move it and noticed something hanging down on the left side, it was my HD Premium Air horn. It broke at the factory mount. It has been on my bike since new in July of 2006. It is covered under warranty, less the deductible any one else had any issues with the HD Premium air horn? I am trying to decide if I should replace it under warranty or go back with a different aftermarket horn.

Remember it will cost you the first $50... I installed a Stebel and it fit fight in the original cowbell.
Replaced 1 relay after a fierce rainstorm.

The premium H-D horn stopped working on my '09 Ultra Classic at about 5900 miles. I decided to replace it with twin Rivco air horns. I normally try to stay with Harley accessories. In this case, the H-D horn was a piece of junk in my opinion. The Rivco air horns sound better.

I have the HD Premium Air Horn on my new 2010 SG. So far so good. Wished I had taken a closer look at the actual horn before I had the dealer install on my bike along with other accessories when I bought the bike. The damn thing is totally made of plastic. Other here have written about how they eventually break at the mount. If mine goes I will replace it with something else.....like the look of those Rivcos. Are they real metal or just plastic also?

You must have a different Stebel horn than I do if yours "fit right under the original cowbell."

Mine also fit under the cowbell but not until I separated the compressor from the horn and did a lot of trimming of the horns with a Dremmel. It was worth the effort, but it certainly didn't "fit right under" it.

Might it be that someone doesn't want you parking in the bay?

The Rivco horns are metal. The cone saped covers may be plastic. I didn't put them on.

Maybe, or maybe not: I slid the compressor off of the horn itself, trimmed up the edges a bit with a dremmel tool and zipped tied the horn into the cowbell. I slid the compressor in between the frame just in front of the battery ( on the EG there is a cavity there) and ran the compressor hose from that point under the left frame rail to the cowbell. You can barely see the hose.

Do these horns sound like a truck or train horn? That is the H-D or Stebel. I would sure like a louder horn.

Love my SG/ but, the horn sucks. My Yamaha Road Star had a GREAT HORN!
(that's about all that was great about it! And, the air cleaner cover said '98' - I guess that was cool, too!)
