Default 2010 FLHR Road King

Just took delivery of the 2010 Road King, I need to raise the handle bars until I can install new bars, how do you get to bar clamps with the handle bar lock on top of the clamps?

Section 2.22 on page 2-71 of the 2010 touring manual will explain removal and installation. A manual, pn# 99483-10 is a must at $60 retail

Not sure on a 2010 model, but my 07 RKC you need to remove the headlight nacelle to remove the cover,
take off the windshield, headlight chrome ring, then unscrew headlight and unplug and sit aside.
Inside on top remove nut holding top nacelle chrome strip on, then on fork lock, pry off
plastic cover plate and remove two screws, then reach back inside nacelle and loosen
screw and nut at the front of the clamp cover. Remove acorn nuts on left and right side
of the forks, cover fender to protect, remove passing lamps and bracket and sit on fender
remove grommets and clutch cable mount. Slightly separate nacelle slide out clamp cover,
reach inside nacelle disconnect aux. switches, remove nacelle.
Loosen rear screws on upper bar clamps, re-position bars, make sure bars are centered, snug
upper handlebar clamp screws, check full lock position for clearance on both sides, then
torque upper handlebar clamp screws to 16-20ft lbs.
Re-install nacelle and connect switches, install clamp cover tighten all three screws on it to
10-20inch lbs., install top chrome strip tighten 10-20inch lbs. install grommets, light bracket,
clutch cable holder, and tighten 72-108inch lbs. install headlight and tighten 9-18inch lbs.
install chrome ring and tighten 9-18inch lbs., install windshield.

That's correct, the pic posted above is just for tightening the screws. That's why I suggested a manual.

Could of, but IMHO having a service manual is a good read and the best way to find out as much as you can about your Harley, best 60 I ever spent

+1 on the manual, and establish a good rapport with your dealer, lol. Otherwise they can be kinda hard to work with.

Regards,
