Default Detach Tour Pack Kit Install - help!

Finally got some time to get in the garage and get started installing my detachable tour-pak kit (part number 52346-09A) that I got from Zanotti's.

I have some questions for folks who have done this before, as this seems a bit screwy to me. The mounting brackets went on fine, putting the mounting kit on the tour-pak itself wen fine. But.....

Question 1) The instructions say that there are 2 chrome spacers that go inboard of the docking posts. Well, when I went to put the tour-pak on, there was no way it was going to fit. The only way it did is if I put the spacers on the outside like this: OK, that's strange, but whatever....

Question 2) I ordered this part number 52627-09 and a pad to put on for the Mrs when the tour-pak is off. Well, again - docking point weirdness. The front of the sissy bar goes under the shock mounts, and the rear does in no-way line up with the docking points on the inside, but looks like it might work if I moved back outside again:

Cr*p!

I'm starting to think that I got a bad part in here somewhere..... the distance between the "claws" on the tour pak is around 10", where the distance between the "claws" on the sissy bar is closer to 12".

Thanks - I'm tired, been a long "afternoon"

I just took a look at mine and on mine for the front mount, the black part is on the outside and the chrome is on the inside. That seems backwards from your picture. I also have the sissybar as well as the tourpak and both fit just fine.

Ditto...just looked at mine...same thing....put the chrome on the inside...Isn't there a bevel side to the spacers...the screws should fit flush...

chrome on inside..there should be a bevel side to the spacers for the screw to fit flush as jerry1834 stated.

The same on mine. The instructions states that the chrome spacer goes on the inside.

Where are you trying to mount the tour pack? It almost sounds like you are trying to mount it where the sissy bar goes. If you are trying to mount it there you need to buy the solo rack for the tour pack. The rack you have is for mounting the tour pack behind the sissy bar or in the two up position.

Nope, I am trying to mount this in the two-up location.

If I put the spacers inboard, as you guys tell me yours are, and the instructions say mine should be, the plate on the bottom of the tour-pak just flat out ain't goin' on to those points.

I just went out and did some measurements see here (remember, this is on a 2010).

The plate on the bottom of the tour-pak has it's feet at 10" apart front and rear. The distance between the forward-most docking points, with the spacers in the correct position is almost 12".

So, the sissy bar goes on the shock mounts and the forward docking points, yes? It is snug, but gets on/off OK.

The tour-pak should go on the forward docking points, and the rear docking points. BUT, the forward docking points with the spacers are 12" apart and the feet for the plate are evenly spaced at 10".

That is where I can't figure this out....

What did I miss?

Could there be a different mounting plate for the tour pak that is spaced further apart to accommodate the 12" width?

That's what I'm thinking - If someone has an 53246-09A kit, could you check and see how far apart those "feet" are?

The 2up mounting plate front mounts don't use the plastic bushings they fit inside the bushings on the chrome. The foreward plastic bushings are for the backrest or 1up tourpak mount to latch on to. If installed with the plastic bushing out they will accept all 3, there is also a set of chrome magnetic caps available to cover the plastic bushings if desired.
