Your friend can compare the parts lists for the correct '07 cruise control kit with the '06 he is considering purchasing. The '06 kit will have a Deutsch connector at the end of the right handlebar switch harness; his '07 has a Molex connector. If the only difference in the kits is the right handlebar controls, he'll need to swap out the Deutsch connector in the '06 kit and re-use the Molex connector from his right side handlebar controls. He'll also need to change out the terminal pins from the '06 kit's handlebar switches and install the terminal pins compatible with his Molex connector.
The handlebar connector/terminal pin change isn't difficult, but it may be more than your friend wants to take on for the cost difference between what the '06 kit will cost versus the price of the '07 kit.
Thanks. On the H-D website, the only cruise control for 2007 listed is for Road Kings. I not an expert so will this one fit the FLHTC? If not, anybody can provide me with the part number that I need?
The p/n for the '07 cruise control kit for '07 FLHT, FLHX, and FLHTC is 77196-07. This is essentially an orphan kit since it's the last year of the throttle cable touring model, but first year of Molex connectors for the handlebar switch harness. You can stop by an HD parts counter and ask the parts guy to print out the installation instructions w/ parts list for that kit and compare it to the '06 kit he's considering.
If you checked the p/n's for the cruise modules on HD's website for the '06 (FLHT, etc.) and '07 (RK) models, you'll find it's the same module.
It's likely that the only difference between the '06 kit and '07 kit no longer offered in the catalog is the Molex connector.
Thank you very much Carl. I wonder why it is not listed on Harleys website tough. I will give the info to my friend.
Dominik
You're welcome. As to why that cruise kit is no longer listed, they're probably out of stock and don't plan to re-order since it's a one-year only kit.
Your buddy can stop by an HD parts counter and the parts guy can use the "part locator" feature of HD's intranet to identify dealers whose inventory show they have that kit in stock. Your bud can then contact the dealer(s) who show it in stock to arrange purchase.
