Jim would that be a positive or negative factor? Also, do you think the pistons are apt to have a short life in that engine not much of a skirt?
actually the skirts are not that bad. when compared to others, say a 107 cp piston. or even a 103 piston.
the shorter rod helps to make the piston taller from wrist pin to top of piston. now the rings are not in the wrist pin hole.better ring seal because they have a full ring land now.
the downfall is that the shorter rod increases thrust, this could cause the cly to wear faster in the thrust area. probably not as big a deal as it sounds. just worth mentioning.
here is a pic comparing a SE 103 piston to the 120R piston.

Wow, that was a long thread. Anyone KNOW of any internet dealers giving the 20% discount on the crate motor? may be worth looking into if so? So far, zanottis and chicago are not supposedly honoring the 20%

Talk to your local dealer parts manager, most dealers are willing to discount large purchases if given the opportunity to earn your business.

LOL...I do deal with my local dealer, but only for small quick things, because they are DEF NOT into giving discounts! I do get 15% off automatically for being in law enforcement, but then I still have to pay state tax on the motor, so it is basically a wash at that point because then I am really only saving 8% off the msrp. I want to find the 20% off without payin the tax. Call me greedy..lol
