I didn't drill mine I put a cutoff wheel on my dremel tool, and cut the rivets off from the inside, the rivets won't spin that way, and you replace the plates inside anyway, it is much safer with a steady hand anyway IMO.
Me & my wrench did the same thing after the first rivet started to spin. Put the hinges on the King Tour Pak now, need a set for the Chopped as I use it WAY more often than the King.
2011 CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide cost $36,499.00 and they put cheap tour pak hinges on it. Go figure...
Ride safe,
Bob.
It's funny that you mention this - I was scrutinizing the pix of the CVO's this year, sure that they would include the premium tour pak hinges - but NO, they didn't! Unbelievable, but I guess they wanted to make sure the CVO owners had something to add to their bikes!
I have been wanting these for my chopped 04 pac - did a search and found a long post from 09 - had several posting in that thread and quotes showing this part (without the A) was NOT to be used on the chopped pac and most all pacs before 06??
My current 2010 book shows the part number got the {A} added to it and now all pacs 88 and newer including razor and chopped
anyone know what changed from 09 to now??
here is the post (5 pages) from 09 talking about how the new hinge is NOT to be used on a chopped or older than 06
I just had a set installed on my Limited. I figured, for 1 hour labor charge ($75.00), it was worth it not to risk hurting my tourpack. They do really look good!!!
