Look up Iron Cross.com They have the same ipod interface for a fraction of the price, and riders claw makes a bar mount for your ipod. Hope this helps you out.

ironacesspeedshop sells a cable set for our bikes which use the harmon kardon stereo. the wiring harness plugs into your ipod and charges it while your bike is running. there is also the 1/8" round plug for the audio. the audio cable has a 90 degree bend molded into it where it plugs into your radio. the charging cable plugs into the accessory plug which is under the seat of our touring bikes. i think the loom is 52" long which is plenty if you choose to keep your ipod in your saddlebag or tour pack. ironacesspeedshop.com and it's $60 bucks, with free shipping. they're in north carolina, and mine should be in wednesday. i only keep music that i really like to listen to, so as long as it charges my ipod and plugs in to the audio port on the stereo, i'm good to go. i'm thinking that the chrome tank panel would be the easiest route for the wires rather than removing the tank. look at their site and you'll see the ipod cable set. it looks to be of great quality, and you don't have to remove the outer fairing to install.

Yes. You remove the seal pins from the slots you need to insert the wires from the interface. The 35 pin connector is marked on the back to show the numbered pin locations. Top row from left to right is 1-12. 2nd row fri left to right is 13-23, 3rd row from left to right is 24-35.

I did this yesterday, easy as pie and now my batwing fits on oooohhhh so much easier since I eliminated that male to male adapter.

Default A different path to play

Instead of spending 400+ on the iPod interface, i'm considering adding a PARROT MKi9200 to the HK. I purchased one for my daughters Jeep and it works great. Bluetooth connectivity for iPhone music, phone and Pandora. I'm not sure there is a harness for the HK Boom system but will look into it.

Anyone look into this as an option?

Dave

Default IPOD Volume

For those who went from the 3.5 and spent the bucks on the Boom! iPod interface - did you notices a drop in "volume" or "loudness" when using the cable/interface with your iPod?

I would listen to my iPod using the 3.5/AUX jack and my volume would be between 1/2 and 3/4 - plenty of sound and clarity. So this past weekend I broke down and spent the bux on the cable interface and now I have to have the volume cranked at 3/4 to full and the "loudness" and clarity isn't there as it was with the 3.5 hook up - if anything, I was expecting an improvement, not a degradation in sound volume and quality....

Anyone else notice a diff? Anyone have an idea on what I should check?

I do like having all the controls thru the bike and one less thing on my bars, but this lack of sound bothers me. Spending that kinda dough only to get subpar results is not my frugal way. ;-)

Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

I plugged in my IPod thru the AUX jack and the volume was just not there andI have to have my radio all the way up to be able to hear it. I checked thevolume on my IPod and that was all cracked up... After doing a bunch of readingon the net I found that there is a setting in your IPod that is called"feedback" and that was turned on. Once I turned that off, it nowsounds as loud as if I were listening to the radio..

I've had my HDPD for about two years now. About to have to replace my second cable (my fault) but I will tell ya that OTMT and Iron Cross are the only places to get replacement cables. For the past month OTMT hasn't answered the phone or emails. I called IC and they were waiting to be supplied with cables from OTMT. They finally got cables in today but now I have to wait on IC to ship cables to people who bought HDPD units from IC before they will sell me a cable.

Makes me wish I had bought a unit from HD instead of aftermarket.
