iPod interface
Man talk about $$$$ just to control an IPOD. I priced the HD out about almost $500. I bought a complete radio with GPS and touch screen for my truck for $699. It came with an IPOD interface, blue-tooth to connect up to a phone (internet radio ready) and a flash card interface. Why should a IPOD interface be almost the same...
For that money I just bought a Road Tac with the mp3 player and Sirius radio. it was only $700 with cable to connect up to the radio.

I just got and installed the HD iPod interface. It does everything I expected and want it to do. I could not be happier. It did take a bit to afford it, but the competitor model isn't THAT much cheaper.
I'm late to this conversation but check out these iPod holders.

I have one for my 6th generation nano. Mounts to the switch housing. The auxillary wire is hidden. Double click the power button on the iPod and you can easily change songs. A lot cheaper and actually looks great. 10 minute install.

Went through 2 cables already. I went and got the IPOD extention cable (male to female) and kept the original cable inside fairing away from harm.
I posted this also in another thread - but this one seems to have some serious users, so here I go...
For those who went from the 3.5 and spent the bucks on the Boom! iPod interface - did you notices a drop in "volume" or "loudness" when using the cable/interface with your iPod?
I would listen to my iPod using the 3.5/AUX jack and my volume would be between 1/2 and 3/4 - plenty of sound and clarity. So this past weekend I broke down and spent the bux on the cable interface and now I have to have the volume cranked at 3/4 to full and the "loudness" and clarity isn't there as it was with the 3.5 hook up - if anything, I was expecting an improvement, not a degradation in sound volume and quality....
Anyone else notice a diff? Anyone have an idea on what I should check?
I do like having all the controls thru the bike and one less thing on my bars, but this lack of sound bothers me. Spending that kinda dough only to get subpar results is not my frugal way. ;-)
Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

Might it be that I am using the iPod Touch and not a Nano? I have a iPod Classic as well but the manual says that it is not compatible and not to use it.

You know, I'm not really sure. I always use the iPod Classic in the car and had the iPod Touch laying around collecting dust so used that on the bike. Could be I assumed the volume was up. Boy talk about the obvious!
now, if you are plugging in to the aux input, that is a different story.
