It doesn't matter where that 2010 patch goes on your vest, you'll still look like a n00b. Unless, you find a used vest with a hundred or more patches on it...why bother ruining good leather.
I bought a nice vest a few years ago. I don't need to fit in, and besides my wife can't sew.
+1, and to the props. The "nobody tells me what to do never ever" crowd are just as much sheeple as the rest. We all have a crowd of folks who's respect we'd like to have. It's the way people are wired.
Those that aren't wired that way are called "sociopaths", and we have to put them away.
Damn! So that's my 'problem'? And you are a sociologist?
A 'sheeple' is the last thing anyone who knows me would call me!!
Can't think of any 'crowd' whose respect I garner!!
I don't buy this, especially not from a vet. Really, there's nobody you'd like to respect you?
Either you are a sociologist or you are not. And I ain't!!
Remember, I'm a Viet Nam Vet, I had five of those 'wet homecomings'!!
I spent 24 yrs. keeping the 'Freedom light' burning. One thing I've learned you can't ask/demand respect, it's earned or you don't get it!! So, no I don't look for anything from anyone and certainly not from any 'groupies'. I gave that s#!t up a long time ago!! They can all kiss my back side!!

Well, not really. Does my job title say "sociologist"? No. Am I qualified to teach sociology at the collegiate level? Yup. Is most of the research I do focused on culture development (things like 'respect' and 'values')? Yup.
I appreciate your service. I know freedom ain't free - it's very expensive! So...thanks!
If you think there's no one out there whom you want to respect you, we'll have to disagree.
I still find it interesting that if you put all the "I don't care what anyone else thinks" post together, they all sound a lot alike. And they often agree with each other. That makes them a "crowd." Shared values, shared goals....we all have a peer group, and we all want their respect.
....Can't think of any 'crowd' whose respect I garner!!
TOP, even though I don't know you personally, I do respect you and all the work you put in to achieve the rank you did. you were a mom and dad, brother, mentor, leader, asskicker, and could always be counted on the get the job done - regardless of what that was. thanks for your service.
I don't like to wear patches, but I'd recomend "no bottom rocker on the back".
Motorcycle Clubs (gangs) use this to designate their ownership of an area.
You may get met by a prospect of a club/gang that is trying to impress his brothers.
The rest doesn't matter really.
Had part of this conversation with an outlaw club a few years back.....
2 puffed-up punks told me my patches were 'collector items' and they
would cut them off my vest for souvenirs...
I politely explained their knives would never see the light of day, as my
.45 was within 2 seconds of removing their chests from their bellies.
The OP should be just fine if he stays away from a 3 piece patch.
Not to hijack his thread....just explaining what can happen in certain
situations.
I like to think that the patches on my vest are similar to the bumper stickers on my car. Kind of tells a story about who I am and where I've been....and I don't expect everyone to like who I am or where I have been.
the hog patch they gave me with the last harley i bought ended up somewhere out in the shop. probably in one of the junk drawers. "Badges? we don't need no stinkin' badges"
Same here only mine goes in the trash, hog is a joke
