Parts often manufactured by more than one supplier. Often done so if something happens at one supplier it doesn't shut everything down. At least the other suppplier might ramp up there production to cover a shortage. This happened a few years back to auto manufactures on hydraulic lifters.

I believe its in the compensator, but a new unit is not worn out, Id say its just not set up correctly as to spring tension, im sure they can come up with a setup that works , and it will be a easy fix, 1 hour or so to change it out. The only thing that i wonder about is, this is the same parts in all the 07 touring models yet in our poll on here only about 1/3rd had the clatter. It would seem if it is, that ALL would act the same way.
hd2007,,,, that dosent make sense to me,,,,, purchasing add ons, to mask a problem,, why spend $ on a bike that might end up sittin on a dealers hoist?
Dealer has done absolutely nothing to mine. They cant hear the noise.I get half hr down the road-HWY- and I can hear the ruckus. But now the drivetrain noises are overcoming primary noise.Plus the thing quite on me for no apparent reason.Hopefully the fault was stored.Nothing was done to my bike because the dealer couldnt or was told to not hear the noise.I say HD is buying themself time.Gotta were sorry from C/S today.Gotta wait till rep rides/hears/tells its normal. Those of us w/noises are in a corner until a dealer hears the noise on every single bike or someone gets hurt.In my case the rep is the final straw.
I have read post after post you have wrote if you are that afraid of a falure, why not just leave it at the dealer and start lemon law process against them. You do know There has not been a single trans. problem other than a noise, why do you worry about falure? Only person to have a trans falure had his dip stick fall of into it, that was a pure fluke and could happen to any year bike.

I was told the noise isnt a safety problem and i agree with the 5th gear whine. The primary noise was my concern and could very well become a safety issue if it fails, rounds out etc.The motor noise on my bike is getting louder. To the point that its overcoming primary noise.the bike has only once stopped while running w/no warning. This would be just great if it happened in the fast lane and couldnt get to the berm of the road.My dealer has been no help in my cause w/noise.And it dying happened on the way home from there.I wanted to leave it there but rep wouldnt be available till next month and dealer didnt want my bike in the way,to keep moving it around daily. To have something else happen to it and throw me over the edge.My state doesnt have a lemon law per say,but does have a warranty law which would apply. The bike has to be tried to be fixed like 3 times and w/o luck.I cant get dealer to even pull a plug. They cant, wont hear the noise that I do.And as long as they dont,I will never be able to use the noise issue.I think many others here are getting the same results. It seems like only the first few people were the ones that honestly had anything replaced.Im sure the MOCO got those parts for testing. Will they ever do anything about my complaint?I wont know until rep rides it.If he says same as my dealer-which Id bet $ on-then my only course is to get legal help.I will be ready for their answers.I have been in contact with several magazine editors and they also have agreed with me on the noise while doing their tests, speaking w/other new owners. My valvetrain noise is much, much louder than my evo I traded in.Its louder than my shovel and believe it or not my panheads. My friends twin cam is an 02 RK and very quiet.Buying this bike back would be in Harleys,my dealers best interest.
I can tell from your many posts you will never be happy with that bike, since the dealer thinks its fine, why not just save yourself the headaches and trade it for something else, and there is no law that states you have to use the selling dealer, all harley dealers are required to honar the warranty ,take it to a different dealer and see if you get better results.
I saw the 3 riding buddies that want '07 Touring bikes this weekend at a party. They are sticking with NOT buying '07 Touring bikes until the smoke clears and this problem is fixed. They want to see what the cause is and if HD will step up and make it right. The one that was going to buy anyway asked to ride my bike. He didn't ride it very far and said after he rode it he would wait for sure now.
I may have to try another dealer and am willing, god only knows what comes up on the screen w/my Vin #.Dont get me wrong,I love this bike just not after the first tank of gas.Trading it in is an option but at my loss of course.Im willing to listen to anyone that will help my bikes cause. So far thats the biggest problem I have.I shouldve fianced this bike and stopped payments until it was cured. At least the loan Co wouldve argued w/them for a short time.I wouldve ended up w/bad credit and thats not good either.Ive been thru 3 C/S people on this bike plus 1 tech guy at factory, endless calls to C/S and dealer, other agencys on my legal options. But all depends on outcome w/reps actions.Another week before I decide which path I will go.I believe others are having the very issues I am,I must be the most vocal.
What do you really think is wrong with your bike pitguy ? If you have a real problem I would insist the dealer fix it or at least would not leave until he rode it with me there. If he still says that nothing is wrong with it try another dealer. If its as bad as you say I am sure they will hear it . If your bike has not broke down or you have not lost any riding time on it how do you feel you have a lawsuit ? Sue them for a noise they claim is normal ?
