I traded my 98 EFI FLHPI for an 07 Street Glide. I put the 103" kit on and I can tell you I am happy. I love the EVO, put 11000+ miles on it in 2.25 years. I plan to put many on this one too. Some people like my bike some do not. So far no problems. As far as bikes go, my group of friends include a Victory Jackpot w/ 250 tire, Victory Vegas, VTX 1300 w/Quadzilla fairing, VTX 1300, Suzuki 800, Hyabusa (sorry spelling), Buell, Honda Shadow 600 and Shadow 1100. I like some of these more than others. But like me they did not buy their bike to please anyone but themselves. Just as it should be. We are all fellow bikers! That BOTM black pearl Deluxe with the contrasting rims is a cool looking bike!!! But I don't want one. I almost got an 06 but theses came out before I bought one so I thought. 1900 for 6 speed tranny, 1500+/- for the 1550 kit, or pay 500 more and get the 07. I got the 07. I'm glad I did. I hope not to have any problems, if I do, I'll get over it.
Cheers to all the great bikes here and on the road, they are all great rides, especially your own!!![sm=icon_rock.gif], RIDE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brothers and Sisters! RIDE ON!!!!!!!!!!
WTF , I am just glad to be back on two wheels. 06, 07 01 who cares. There are good and bad of everything. I went to look at an 07, but they were dealing on an 06 that was set up just they way I wanted it sitting right there on the floor. If I have problems then they can fix. If the 07 has problems the dealer can fix it. [sm=deadhorse.gif]
Apparently, I was misunderstood. I do not want an'07. I was offered an '06 or an '07 when they replaced my previous bike. I opted for the '06. I did not take part in the "Bashing the '07" posts, I was only taking up for those that did. I read a post where an '07 owner was miffed that people were still bashing the '07 and sure enough, I pointed out that, apparently, they had good reason to.
Funny, I make a comment about the "Substandard quality" of a given year model motorcycle, and all of a sudden, some people have all but slandered my mother. Some people truly do not realize that the internet is for comments and opinions. You "Internet tuff guys" that want to call names and make personal attacks....I can only wish to someday meet you face to face.
Sure, the '06 bikes had problems. No doubt. My old bike had an oil leak, a vibration, and a radio issue. All fixable problems. No argument from the dealer or the MoCo, just fix 'em. Hmmmmmm, not so easy with the '07 models though...MoCo still trying to decide if they want to repair all these problems or just pull the "They all do that" card.
So those of you that want to call names and make it personal, take it to PM and I'll give you my address, well meet up and I'll make sure that you are properly broken from the habit.
Re read my previous post, I wished everyone luck in getting their problems resolved, after alll we are all on Harleys. So why did it have to get out of hand?
Like I said previously....."I am really glad that FOR ONCE, I made a good decision and stuck with my '06"
No attack there, just amazed that I had some good luck for a change.....
Sounds like the 07 models do, in fact, SUCK! Yes, we told you they would, but you bought them anyway! I, for one understand that new products often do, SUCK! Dont take it so hard, they will eventually get all the bugs worked out of 'em. But seriously, a spade is a spade, and so far, the 07's are turds. It's not a personal attack.
nogood o~`o
Hmmm.... makes me feel good about getting an '07, but I ain't sayin' nuthin cause I don't want no *** whuppin'
Seriously Nogood, you made inflammatory statements about the intelligence and decision making ability of a lot of folks. What kind of reaction did you expect? I know that you really meant no harm but you actually got the reaction you subconsciously or unconsciously asked for. I don't see the need to give a negative dissertation on other folks purchase decisions.
Peace brother, you enjoy your scooter and I'll enjoy my '07, good or bad.
The sixth gear in the '07's is only good for an 11% reduction in rpm vs. the old 5 speed. The other five gears have new ratios so that you have to use the sixth gear in normal riding. I'd much rather have the SE or a Baker 6 speed with a true over drive that will lower the rpm's a heck of alot more than 11%.
Well, guys, I am thoroughly beat. I picked up my bike this afternoon, rode it home ( app. 40 miles ) and it still leaks. Not as bad, but still......leaks. The vibration I complained about is getting worse. I called the service manager this evening and we aggreed that a repurchase was not at all out of the question. To his surprise...I told him that if Harley did buy back my bike, I want a vivid black road glide to take it's place. He was amazed that I did not even want to change colors. ALL I WANT IS MY BIKE FIXED! In his own words...."We have no idea what to do to fix your leak, and no idea where to start on finding your vibration." It just makes me sick. Here it is, riding season, it has been almost 2 weeks without rain, and my bike is in the shop for most of that time. I just want to puke. The OL and I were planning on riding up to the Lynchburg Tennessee bike rally this weekend, and honestly, I dont mind so much risking my own safety, but I have no right risking hers. The vibration is so bad now, on the 40 mile ride home this evening, my feet would get numb if I left them on the floorboards for more than a few minutes. I apologize for the rant.....just needed to vent....wish me luck.....
nogood o~`o
not trying to get on your bad side wnogood, but isnt one of the big reasons you got a new bike because it was difficult to find the vibration, if so that doesnt sound like an easy fixed problem. sorry if some of the 07 guys got under your skin, but it seems to me that this thread is starting to make people take sides. and im a middle man on this one
wnogood----STILL, trying to instigate a confrontation[:@][:@]???????? Why??? You started out all wrong on the orig. post, why re-read it? Just pissed me off again.
I'll just say , that I fully understood what you were trying to say in your first post. When I first heard about the new motor and trans I was all geared up to trade up from my 05 RG and now I'm glad I made a good decision to stick with my 05 for a while longer. I'm not usally that lucky either and then end up kicking myself in the *** down the road.
By the way some friends, my wife and I just got back from visiting your state. We rode from VA down to the Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham and then over through Huntsville and back up through TN and home. From pictures I've seen of your bikes, don't you deal with Foster's HD??? I was down there in May.
Oh, and I don't think you'll get too many takers on wanting to bad mouth you face to face, seems like some people are real brave hiding behind a keyboard and monitor.
ALl new model year bikes have problems, just like cars. the 07s there will be problems that are viewed and problems addressed on the forum boards but this is where people are going to come to complain.
Ones all the little bugs are addressed the 07 will be a great bike. The thing i do not like is the emissions constrictins put on the bike.
over time these things will be overcome and the "true" 96" potential will be shown..
You guys just skipped by the fact that NOGOOD just offered HD91 99 07 a free *** whoopin with all the perks that come with it!! Then little miss HD91 99 07 ran away!!! Internet style!! Now Im sorry ,but that is the funniest !!!!!!!
