Default New frame ? That much better??

I am looking for a Ultra and need to know if the new frame(2209- and up) is that much better that I should pay that much more to get? I have heard that the new frame is longer and smaller guys can feel much more comfortable on a 2008 and down and taller guys will benefit from the new frame? I also heard it helps in the corners as they handle corners much better then the old frame? I need a bike that will be the best for my riding and I am not a Hot Rod rider What FRAME is the new that much better n????
Also anyone selling an Under 10K miles Ultra in the Long Island area? Be fair in pricing ! :

You need to ride both and decide for yourself. You may actually like the ride of the pre 09 better. The new frame has a stiffer ride quality but handles great. Another choice would be a 08 with the 96 engine and ABS brakes, if you want them. Lot of choices out there.

I agree, add some decent shocks, fork springs and a Bagger Brace and I believe you would be quite happy.

JUst the braces and shocks would give me the same fel as the new frame? Or something just as stiff ? Is the new frame larger and a more stable in line on the highway better feel? I mean there are so many Ultra's 2008 and down out there it does give me a better choice no doubt .

My 2 cents... I have the 09 with the new frame. I had 8 ultras before this one and it's definitely an improvement. The frame is slightly larger, has a wider rear wheel stance and feels solid as ever no matter how you ride it. All my prior bikes felt just a little wabbly. The new frame also uses higher pressure shocks. I also ride a 2010 Electraglide police motor and it feels much better than the 08 and priors. If you're going to spend that much, try em for yourself and you'll make the right decision for you. Best of luck!

I definitely like the new frame better, it's much smoother and sturdier than the previous one and I believe it's a little wider too which would explain why taller guys like it more than the smaller guys. JMO

You said "you heard" that the new frame is longer. There's no mention of that anyplace that I've seen, but the overall measurement of the wheelbase remains the same at
63.5", and the bikes since '09 measure 98.6" total length, as compared to 98.3" on the old frames.

The seat height on an '06 through '10 is 30.7", the '11 is 29.1"

most everyone will claim that the new frame 09 and up, are far superior. for me, i don't get it. why in the world, from a structural standpoint, would anyone design the front downtubes to where they end at the perpendicular ring welded in place to hold the hockey puck style motor mounts? they're surely aware that a continuous run of tubing is far superior to a piece of tubing that's cut and a ring of larger tubing welded in place crossways. go figure. my antique 08 frame suits me just fine. it's stood the test of time, i think that frame has been in use since 84, and it still works just fine. i can afford to get a new bike, but i only have 15k miles on mine, so i didn't buy into the hype of "man you gotta get the newest thing out", thanks anyway. consider this, just because they came out with a new frame in 09 does not mean that the 08's and older models instantly became junk.
