Can do the same thing with a couple $0.59 "L" brackets form the hardware store!

I'm no expert on such things, but wouldn't that weaken the hell out of a part that's already known for snapping right around that point...?

(EDIT)

Sorry - I see it's to repair and already-broken bracket.

Carry on.

With that question, I can tell yer not a expert.
And probaly never had a broke bracket.

Do you know where the fairing bracket breaks ?

Do you understand the purpose of this bracket.

If you've seen a broke fairing bracket, you would understand this bracket.

And even if yer bracket is not broken. This is preventive maintenance to put one on yer bike if it has a fairing.......

But its yer choice.

Hope it holds, but.

One of the problems is the metal is too thin, that is another reason it breaks so easy.
If you look at the replacement brackets, they are thicker and has a tab at the bottom...

I told him that I had replaced the lower bracket already, but had just noticed a vibration recently and I thought it was the upper bracket now. He told me he had welded a few and seemed to be working, so we will see. I trust him.

So far so good, 3 days so far..............
