I just had to replace my shaft that goes into the transmission a few months ago. Been fighting it loosening up but lost the battle. Mines a 03.
Replaced the old bolt with a grade 8 so I can get right on it.

Always the option of drilling through, and use a bolt and nut with blue lock-tite.
