Oh also...what model # did you end up getting?
I believe there is only one adjustable bracket assembly for all newer touring frames.
I don't have the number handy. You pick the pad that you think goes best for your bike. In my case, I went with the RKC pad because that's my ride. I spent somewhere around $300, and it was worth it!

Love my backrest. The only time it ever comes off is if I need to get under the seat for something.

I would think with all these replies that you've probably already bought one. However, if you haven't, do it. You won't regret it. It's like the old American Express ads, "Don't leave home without it".

Hmmm...I just put a brand new one I bought up on eBay just a few minutes ago and now I may have to rethink it. I never thought I would put it on but now that I see everyone considers it a must, I may have to take that auction down!

I road my 04 electra glide classic about 26,000 miles without one and all my friends kept telling me to get one and i said i was just fine. I traded my 04 on a 10 limited and had the dealer install on, let me tell you it was some of the best money i have ever spent, helps my back and makes the ride much better, spend the money it is worth it, wish i had listened to my friends long ago.

I had the HD backrest on an '05 RK and it was pushing me too far forward even with it set as far back as it would go. I cut the support bracket off and installed it backwards and it worked great.

I like the Corbin backrest better as it is more solid and prevents the passenger from sliding forward in a sudden braking situation.

I have a mustang backrest on my ultra. I just took it off my 08 and installed it on my 2011 limited. Just had to buy a $20 bracket. I love it.
