Default Tour Pack question

Can anyone tell me what the rhyme or reason is with tour packs. Are some fiberglass and some ABS? I'm just asking about OEM MoCo packs. Which are better? Thanks in advance!

One of the improvements late in the TC88 years was the new product used for saddlebags and tour paks. I think the '06 was the first year, but not sure...I remember reading about it when we were shopping for a new bike.

The older pacs/bags were glass.ABS plastic is used now because the mfg. can form the pac/bags out of sheets of plastic.

I like the ABS plastic better than the glass.

I agree, the ABS seems to have little or no ripples compared to the fiberglass parts.

The ABS is also a lot lighter and more flexible.
Increased flexibility means its less likely to crack, chip or split then the old fiberglass pac was. I'm not sure but the paint seems to hold up better on the ABS (less fading) but that may be better paint then anything else.

ABS is a little lighter in weight.
