They want it bad enough they'll take it. Keep good insurance and your fingers crossed.

I always tote a full bike cover with me on road trips. When stopped for the night unfold it and cover up the bike so no one can see what I have. I don't leave anything on the bike I don't want to loose and if a hard point is available I use a Cobalt security cable(need an acetylene torch to cut). i do like the idea of the Goldwing cover though.

How long does it take to defeat the ignition lock? According to the security footage it took the guys that tried to steal my bike last weekend all of a 1/2 second to defeat mine.

I am guessing I am like most people. I park in well light areas, lock the ignition, the the forks, empty the bags of everything and check on it periodically. I cant imagine the feeling of having a bike stolen, thats gotta suck though. I try to be as careful as possible and let insurance handle the rest.

To the guy who's worried he'll forget the brake lock and dump his ride. Ahh, mine has a bright red cable you're supposed to hang on the throttle. If you think you might still forget it, double think your decision to own a motorcycle!

The best way for be is to prepare for a theft. I have good insurance so the bike is covered and I always carry extra cash in case I need to get home.

Good Insurance and carry an American Express Card
"Don't leave home without it"
No matter how big of a gun you have, you still have to catch them. In that case, I have a nice Louisville Slugger.

I know it's fun to be a tough guy on the internet, but it just makes you look foolish. 30+ years of riding, slick. I've seen people who have used a disc lock for decades forget it's there and dump it.
