My oil in my bike is syn 3...wondering if it was a big deal to leave the oil in the bike that has 3100miles on it....I hear that some change it before storage.....I just dont see the point...could someone explain? thanks
Most change all the fluids prior to storage so there's no condensation, etc. However, I've never seen a thread where someone's engine was damaged from not changing the fluids. To each their own.
I just changed all mine out yesterday but I had 5k miles on the fluids. I e heard some say that that used oils contains a lot of acid that you don't want sitting in your engine all winter. That said, I have two other bikes with less than 2k on the oil and I'm not going to change that.
oil will obsorb moisture just setting I change mine in the spring before riding , open to discussion but don't see what dirty oil hurts setting in the bottom of the motor
If my bike is going to sit for 5 or more months, I'm changing the fluids.
No matter what the miles.
I also put stabil in the gas and while the motor is running I spray fogging oil into the intake until I get white exhaust.
Hook up a battery tender, put on the J&S jack and forget about it until spring.
