Can only speak for the Wild1s but they are a quality bar that fits me very comfortably at 6'. Don't know what part of Va you're in but you are welcome to come and try a test fit.
I've seen both. They both look good. You can use your mirrors with the yaffes 12s. I am partial to the Monkey bars. That said the Monkey bars are tough to wire and you may have to wait for them. I have heard both are comfortable. I was hung up on the hands above the fairing thing but after riding with the Yaffe 12s I can honestly say I wish I had gone 14. I love mine but with Apes taller is better.
I have over 40K miles on my Wild 1 WO-575's and I like them alot. Wish I would have gone with the 12.5's though. I bought mine directly from Wild 1 and mine were a blem set at a greatly reduced price. I would not have been able to find the blem if it had'nt been circled with a Sharpie. The MOST important thing to me is wrist angle of the bars. If it's wrong for you it's all bad and can't be fixed. Wild 1 has the most comfortable wrist angle for me and I will stick with them. Just my .02, good luck.
I love the Monkey bars, and am planning on putting them on my bike, but they have such a distinct look, I wonder if they will look dated and goofy in a couple of years.
That being said, it'd be nice to be able to "test fit" bars and see what would work for any given individual, wouldn't it?
You can "guesstimate" where a set of bars will put your hands, but until they're mounted up you never really know for certain.
And what works for one person might be totally wrong and uncomfortable to another.
That being said...yea, go with the Monkey's. No matter what, at least you'll definitely look kick ***.
Put the Wild 1s 14" chubby bagger bars on the GF's Ultra. They look great, feel great and were easy to install. The only thing she could find to bitch about..... Why didn't she put them on a year ago!
Oh and I will be putting them on mine over the winter!
