Default FuelMoto JackPot Header Pipe Question

Just installed the header piipe and the install went well. However it appears that the bolts on the exhaust flanges should go deeper onto the bolts. They are flush with the end of the nut (maybe a single thread beyond). I torqued everything to specifications and used the oem exhaust gaskets. Anyone who has installed these let me know if this is correct?

Thanks

Did you get the old gaskets out? May sound dumb, but it happens sometimes

Well, I loaded a calibration on it, started it up and rode it. Doesn't sound bad at all. However I am not even sure how to check for an exhaust leak.

As long as the nuts are somewhat even on the studs and there are no leaks I would say your good to go.
Probly a good ideal to recheck them after a few heat cycles.

The nuts on mine are about 3/32 to 1/8 past the studs.I also did not use a torque wrench which may be why mine are deeper, however I did not crank them down either.
I am going to check them again using a torque wrench.

An exhaust leak would sound like a ticking noise.

I'm not hearing anything but again I'm not sure what to listen for. I will say however that all four bolts are offset almost exactly the same.

You are good then. Mine are about the same. It's because the flange is different then the stock flange. The stock is designed to go "into" the gasket and the FM head pipe is designed to sit square on the gasket. I have mine torqued fairly tight with a 1/4" drive. I have rechecked them also with no problems. Also, checked for leaks a few times with smoke and also by blocking the exhaust and listening for whistling around the heads.

If you had a exhaust leak on the heads it would set a check engine code, so I think you will be in good shape...

Thanks for the feedback. I am just planning on having it tuned next weekend and I don't want anything to be wrong to screw up the tune.
