I finally got around to do my install. I was very happy when I discovered there was no need to disconnect the ignition wire connector at the switch. in fact, much of the unplugging and pulling of wires detailed in the manual is not necessary.
One more "lesson learned" I can impart is watch where you bundle the wiring under the radio. Where some of the connectors ended up they made the headlight a tight install. So much that it bothered me enough to take the outer fairing off again to reroute them. Now I have no worry of chafing.
One issue I found was with the torque specs on the lower fairing hardware. 144 in-lbs for the lower bolt and 72 in-lbs for the upper. As I gained on the upper it pulled the 2 fairing pieces together so tightly the gap was unsightly and concerned me that something would snap so I backed off until the gap looked better. It's not completely wiggle free but looks better. The lower bolt crushed the rubber washer so much that I thought it would rip. I have a very sensitive Apco-Mossberg 1/4" torque wrench so I'm sure I wasn't over torqueing.
