I'm going slightly retro on my '08 Road King, and just ordered Wild 1 WO504 bars, along with the chrome wind deflector kit.
Already installed on the bike is the full chrome bag guards, and lots of other additional chrome. I'm heavily considering whitewall tires to complete the look, but I'm concerned about maintenance.
Are they difficult to keep up? This bike will not see many miles or bad weather, but I don't want to get into a maintanance nightmare.
Whitewalls are easy to keep looking nice. All you need is a SOS pad (steel wool) impregnated with soap. All you have to do is scrub them and rinse. I was able to keep my whitewalls looking brand new with just a brillo pad.
Yeah, they are a little work regardless of what you use to clean them. Keep on them though, and it's easier to do each time, let them get too dirty for too long and it's a pain. Oh yeah, use a bike jack, otherwise it's a real PITA.

I read somewhere that you could clean your whites with lacquer thinner. Brillo or the super cleaners would not help. It was as if my WWWs were beyond help, then I cleaned my bike as usual and after I dried it, I used lacquer thinner on the white walls. It was like they had never been soiled. The black crap from the brakes simply dissappeared, as well as the other crud. I wet a small area of a cotton cloth and wiped the whites, no probs. Just don't breath that crap.
Westley's Bleach white is good but dont get it on your rims or anything else. Simple Green is better in my opinion and wont harm the rims. Also get one of those curved tire brushes and they are pretty easy to keep clean.
