Fuel gauge issues...sending unit?

What really gets me is...everything was fine all year, never had a problem with the gauge at all and it was very accurate. When the gas would slosh around (up/down hill) the movement of the needle was minute and never did my miles left fluctuate, especially go up...that just does not make sense.
Anyway, all was good and worked fine until I came home from being gone for a month...and the first trip after it sitting for a month is when I noticed the freaky fuel gauge.
