Been using the smooth push button for a couple of years; I love it. I moved it to my new bike because it was so trouble free....that, and because I was too cheap to pay for a new one

Reason: spelling
1. Open the cover.
2. Remove the retaining nut holding the lock
3. Remove the lock mechanism.
4. Rotate the lock mechanism 180 degrees and re-insert in hole in cover.
5. Replace retaining nut.
6. Close cover.
7. Cover appears locked + you never need a key to access gas tank.
my buddy has had two ultras 06&10 both caps were locking ,I've had two ultra CVO's 08 & 11 both had smooth button nonlocking seems it would be the other way around ...As for problems I've had none & no rattles, I don't lock any of my bikes so I wouldn't lock the gas cap anyway
I had the lockable one on my SG and went with the smooth button instead on my '10 EG. I like the smooth button better. Like mentioned, no fumbling for keys. With the lockable one I had to take my gloves off to get to the little push button, not so with the smooth one.
Yeah I agree-- I just dumped the lockable push button for the smooth button. I got tired of always taking a glove off to make it work.
