It is so easy to get cat out. Take a straight edge and mark on pipe some marks with a awl. This will help in lining up to weld. Measure gap thickness of cut and weld it back with the same gap space. Do not cut pipe where heat sheild clamp goes. As this would cause a heat sheild fit problem. Cat is about 1 1/4 .. 1 1/2 inches from welds front and back. Drill hole thru cat against the inner wall of pipe. This makes it easy to get a long saw all blade in. Take a saws all and saw around the cat against the inside of the pipe wall. Once sawed , cat will come out easy. I will try to post some pics in the near future.

Or if you dont want to do this , I will sell you my fuel moto header.

I already got it out. I originally tired the saw blade around the cat material but that did not work for me. I ended up just drilling along the edge of the cat and pulling it out little chunks at a time. Sawing it in half was no problem as I have a nice metal band saw with a very narrow blade.

Thanks for the info and offers. I would like to keep my stock headers with the cat around. You never know what a liberal government might do next, so to be safe, I will probably keep it and hang it on the wall... Thanks to all of you.

Gutting the cat on the newer pipes (small o2 sensors) can cause cross talk between the sensors. Even though they are separated by a length of pipe the cross talk happens from the negative pressure wave, the one that is heading back towards the valve. This is not such an issue with the '09 pipes with the 18mm sensors up by the heads. The 2:1:2 pipe from Fuelmoto is a great replacement pipe. I have heard soon they may also be ceramic coated.

Can anyone tell me what type metal the oem headpipes are and what type welding rod you used to weld it back together?
