The stock bearings are a known weak point with high hp engines:

See http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/h...e_upgrades.htm
and look under "Crankshaft Bearings."

That S&S is not that reliable either, neither is their turn around time for putting right their screw up's

Well this is close to home. The owner of CWHD (Dave J) myself and my husband were with him on this Sturgis trip. He speaks the truth...the Jims was awesome. In fact I rode it for a few miles on the I-90. Got up to 100 mph in a hurray

Also, my husband has an 06 Ultra with a Zippers 120 in it. He rode it on this trip as well and now has 30K on it. He loves this motor and hasnt had any problems. He complains about the gas mileage around town though

I know he got it from Zippers with a few perks...lifters, fuel pump, gear drive cams ....

Thats about all I know. By the way, I think Dave J at CWHD has a Jims 131 in his current bike

So my question to you all is, does anyone have any opinions pros or cons, experiences with this product? What about Zipperperformance? They have engine kits that give out the same performance.

Thanks.
Have 2 friends that have JIMS 120's. Both had excessive sideplay in the rods brand new. The General Manager of the H.D. Dealership that supplied the motor from JIMS talked to Jim, the owner of JIMS at the Dealers Show. His reply was "most guys don't know the difference, most dealership techs don't either". The GM's response was these guys do! It's a hot rod "RACE ONLY" motor and you may get a good one, but they won't stand behind the "Race Only" motor. The cases are good, it's a good place to start and will allow you to build a huge motor, but I'd rather build a good motor using the stock cases than buy a loosy goosy motor that needs to be rebuilt when new.

That said JIMS specialty tools are great! I use their wheelbearing and Twin Cam installation tools and they are great.

Default Jims 120

Very dissapointing to hear, Ive got a 95" in my 03 E Glide and was considering the 120 based on my only example, Local Dealer has one in his personal bike and it gets better mileage than mine, He runs a 45mm se carb, mine is a 44mm se. He has all the power you could ask for and over 40000 km, trouble free. (although he sells them so I take everything with a grain of salt). Also wondering if it is all worth while, my best run ever was 13.00 @105 and our strip is close to sea level. Almost sounds like the extra 15-20 hp/tq isn't worth the expense. Still wan't more but I like reliability, average 10-12000km a summer. I guess in a perfect world everyone would be happy with their upgrades.

I see you brought this thread back from about a year ago. My husband has since had his Zippers 120 dyno tuned and is even happier than he was when I originally posted. Here's his dyno sheet. You can judge if its worth it to you

I went with S&S as Jims has chain drive cams. If you are happy to have your cams driven by a pair of bracelets then go for it.

Also warranty is an issue, Jims is Race Only, as previously stated, whereas the S&S has 1 year unlimited km..

My last trip to the strip I had the screen and the bags on and we tipped the scales at 1050lb. Best pass with a soft launch was 12.25 @ 108mph. Since then I have had her dynoed (AFR was 15:1 in that tune!!!!) and I am fairly confident she is in the 11s with the screen on and the bags on. As soon as I get to the strip again I will let y'all know...

Hi performance motors are all about tolerances and precision building. If you can find that in a crate engine then I will be surprised, but if its there go for it.

But any engine that the builder wont put a warranty on aint worth your time.
