The original S&S 585 is a very good cam when matched with the right compression/head work. If they simply reproduced it with the "easy start" feature, then it should be equally good. It will only be good with complimentary components though.

I've got a good friend running a set of 585's in his 95" with BC Gerolamy stage 2 heads at 10:1 compression. It rips, especially above 3000 rpm. It's flat nasty sounding with his Thunderheader.

I am running the S&S T585G's with a 95 kit in an 06 Electra with SE slipons. Runs like a beast 3000+ but you will HAVE to run a tuner like a SE race tuner, Powercommander or a Fuelmoto tuner (same as PC). I had major ping issues with a fuelpack and changed to the Fuelmoto....works great and no HD download.

I had the S&S 510G's installed in my stock 88" and they work really well from 2500 to 4500 rpm range. That's the range i ride in 99% of the time.
