Heck I have an 06 Sg.....probably have what a cvo would have cost in it with mods......Nada says its worth 12to 13k................makes me want to cry.
I am in your corner here...build what you want not what many others criticize you for doing.....I am not mechanically gifted so I got what I wanted and had the dealer put on what I wanted to make the bike what I want and not go the CVO route just for a GPS etc and paint job that I don't need anyway....to each his own...or hers...whatever applies
Wow...I need to check out the Touring section more often...some very entertaining threads!
We all have different different skill levels, different financial capabilities, and even different tastes.
I'm just curious to see how the scoot turns out no matter what it costs (or doesn't cost) or who is (or isn't doing) the work.
Good luck and keep us posted!
Well guys, I have been a lurker for a while now, but to be honest, I really haven't had much to say. I used to really be into this stuff a while back, but took a break and went a completely different direction. Now that I am back, it looks like a lot of the stuff I took for granted back then doesn't seem to really happen any more- actually it seems everybody buys their stuff already done by the MOCO- or they leave it close to stock. Now I am not trying to start anything here, just calling it how I see it.
If I have already lost you- I apologize. Anyways, I saw a 09 CVO Road Glide and I liked it- and then I went over to the dealership and saw a new 11 CVO Street Glide, and I really, really liked it.........until I saw the price. Now its not that I can't afford it, I just don't want to. So I sat down and figured I can build just as cool Street Glide for about half the investment.
So I picked up a 03 Screaming Eagle Road King from a friend of mine(funny thing is I sold it to him back in 03) and started ripping in to it. Thought you guys might want to see how it turns out- or not.
.
If it started out as a MOCO CVO then how can it be a non MOCO CVO? Good luck with the project. Can't wait to see the pics
Frame, rear swingarm and rear fender are back- the color is a 04 Ford color called G5, does not look too great in the pics but really shows in the sun with the metal flake-
And the final ones for now- still waiting for sheetmetal which will probably be another month. Also, for anyone out there looking to do an Agitator wheel on a older frame, just in case you missed my other posts, here is what you need-
Agitator wheel
Bearing kit
Agitator rotors
Updated 08 and later Brembos or equivalent brakes
08 and later front axle and spacers
As you can see, it adds up quickly. If I was to do it all over again, I would probably go PM as I could match the rear wheel a lot easier, but I do like the look of the front end.
