Projects like this aren't done as investments; they are labors of love and excercises in creativity. I applaud you for having a vision and actually tearing into this project. And as someone who has both restored & customized classic cars, I know exactally what you mean when you say "we", "I", and "us". Doing something like this, you act more like a general contractor than the guy who hammers every nail & hangs every sheet of drywall. Some guys may expect you to paint, stitch the new seats, and dip your own chrome, but you do the majority of the work & farm some things out to the specialists.

Your bike looked good before you started on it, and I'm sure it will look great when you're done. And don't worry about ruining a rare & valuable CVO. I'll leave mine stock so everyone remembers what they looked like!

that's a great looking bike man. it looks sharp, and for me, a cvo is just a harley that they bolted a lot more chrome on to. i'm glad for those who can afford excess, but yours is something special. it's a project that you've been involved with, and with that in mind, your has character. nice job, keep it going.

Yeah, Leo, but when HE bought the bike in '03, it was the only one the MoCo made, to his specs in fact! Oh wait, I could be wrong on that one, I do remember seeing those languishing on the lots. Yep, 'we' just aren't doing anything custom on our own anymore. Mine sucks, your sucks, and the multitude of nice (oh, I mean 'fugly') looking rides here simply aren't worth the bandwidth to post pics of. So, no more ugly bikes until the OP's is finished and the bar is set.

Seriously dude, your project had better be so off-the-charts jaw-dropping gorgeous to justify that assertion. I hearing projections of steak & lobster while I'm expecting a Denny's Grand Slam. Unless you're CNC'ing your own wheels, welding up your own frame, making carbon fiber body, employing heads-up display for all gauges, a pneumatic center-stand, carbon/carbon brakes, in other words something truly original, I'd tone that down a bit.

I'm subscribing just for entertainment!

Can we just nod our heads in agreement with Leo?

VERY WELL SAID BUTCHER, hopefully we can get great ideas from this one off custom, but so far he states THEY are using harley agitator wheels (like yours) not cnc'ing there own and copying a later model cvo paint scheme but I'm looking forward to pics of the final build hopefully it will get better.

No, dude, I really don't car that much. But to some of us, who are still building and modifying bikes the old school way in the comfort of an unheated garage, there's a difference between "I'm building a bike" vs "I'm having a bike built". That issue came up about this build, and rather than dancing around the subject, I just came out and asked the question. Which the OP then answered, and for me at least, it was put to bed. Or at least it was until you came along and stirred the pot again.
