Good info here. I was quoted about $1,000 to do an instal at the dealer - 255 cam and keeping the stock pushrods. I am not really interested in spending this much, but I don't really have the time to do it myself. I wish money grew on trees!

IMHO $600 or better sounds like a better deal for a turn key job that includes all the parts.

The price was $700 out the door. Included SE204 cams, gaskets (install kit) and labor. It was at HD of Indianapolis running the special.

Back to the original question...has anyone used a Terry Comp TV-3 with a cam install?

$700 is a reasonable dealer cost for the work described; see if you can get them to throw in new inner cam bearings, like Torrington B168s.

Don't know anything about Terry Comp tuner but pretty sure you can't program an ignition map. If you are adding cams to the mix you need to be able to adjust timing. You may be able to upload an ignition map from a DTT or another tuner but I don't believe you can tweak timing during a dyno tune as with the more sophisticated tuners.

I echo the opinion that you and your brother should get your hands on a service manual, consider this a teaching moment and make this a DIY project. You will save enough to put a big dent in the purchase price of a real tuner like the TTS Mastertune. With the '07 cam plate/hydralic tensioner setup, a cam change is a piece of cake.

BTW, your brother will like the SE204s.

Local dealers around me charge 3.5 hrs@$70 = $245 This includes removing rocker boxes to use stock pushrods if applicable (SE204/255's)

I looked at the Terry Comp website and it looks like you can add pipes and/or a high flow breather and the unit will adjust itself. As stated above, I am thinking cams will be a problem if your brother wants optimal performance. I was surprised how much those units cost - twice the price of a Fuelpak.

Well that basically brings you back to the $700 out the door price the OP noted. I wonder why the hell I am getting such a high quote (at least 4 more hours of labor)?

I think the dealers in my area allow four hours a cam change (retaining stock pushrods) whcih I can see because I can do it about 5 and I am slow and have two thumbs on each hand. The going rate is $75/hour which is $300; $300 more for cams, plus gaskets and you are right at $700. Maybe your dealer just likes you!

I didn't mean tha t$700 was ripoff, just that it is not a deal... sounds fair if you don't want to touch it.
