I bought a real nice chrome spacer from a true value hdwe store(in speciality drawers)for like 3.00 and had a rubber bushing that fit over the end of it. So, no there are cheaper alternatives and if you have a Menard's or Home Depot or True Value around go look in their speciality bolt section and see what you can find. I know I saw spacers at Menard's the other day, stainless steel for like 4.00..
27 bucks on Ebay which I think is too high. I have them on my bikes though. I like moving the shifter out where my foot can use it.
lp
The Ace hardware specialty drawers would blow away that price.
No way I'd pay 10x just for a taper. Not in that location where no one would notice the difference. Matter of fact, if both were the same price I'd go without the taper.

My foot wouldn't like a new location. It's too used to years of the current location. I just asked to confirm, and it hasn't changed it's mind.

So you let Ace Hardware and your Foot tell you what to do? Come on...Man up and buy an Overpriced quality American Product made in China!
It's for the economy geezus....
Ya know, I bet you could get 20 washers for 1.50 from Ace hardware or cut out a piece of old garden hose to do the same thing.
Having a nice bike is about saving money and being cheap.
Actually I'll keep my over priced kuryakyn tapered deal (which has a rubber anti scratch sleeve BTW) because "my foot" is used to style...
BTW, my foot just called your foot "Trailer Park".
I don't use the heal shifter, but I leave it on. It makes a great primary protector. Keeps my foot from sliding into the primary and making that nice big rub mark in the chrome that so many without the heal shifter have.
