BTW: Do you know if the rockers were gonna be a stock ratio, or something that was going to add to the lift?
Curiousity,.... I've seen a few experiments with those.
I'd like to know that also but going back to the mechanic might be difficult.
My first thought was that the S&S 510's were not the best choice and maybe he was just used to them as they were the first gear drive cams for twinkies. Maybe he has a good option with different rockers?

That was my thoughts. I've seen some cool results on other cams with different rocker ratios. Was toying with the idea of seeing what they'd do for my own cam.
I am not blind to the fact that the preferred way is getting the lift from the cam itself. But if one can get cool results with the rockers, you can't argue with final results.
I wouldn't expect the OP to call his guy and ask him, it would be rude of me to ask that. But if he happens to already know, or have some notes, it would be cool to find out. Might be a new trick to share with HDF.
Even if you tell his boss that his tech was being an *******, the guy would likely do half assed work in retaliation. I would seek a better (different) wrench.
the guy is a total rip off sounds like he wants to make a thousand dollars on just the cams, he sounds way over priced.the 510 are a waste of money, thats why he wants to sell them to you he dosent have to worry about any head work at all, seems to me hes tring to bend you over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being a small bussiness owner I can tell you most of the time the customer is wrong I stay in bussiness because If the customer wants something done I dont agree with I will tell them I disagree and will do it there way for some applications, but some I have plan out refussed and told them they might get some hack to do it but not us. And if your a pain in the *** to deal with well take your bussiness elsewhere. On the other hand you have been a loyal customer for eight year go talk with him. If he does good work thats what your paying for quit beating him up on price. Sounds like you to need to hug and make up. It could actually make your realationship better if you work through this. Strongly recomend talking in person and say what you have to say to his face he will either respect you or you will be looking for some one else to turn a wrench for you.
