I'm looking at an 04 EGC, red and silver w/ 4.800 miles (really), asking $12,995 and an 06EGC, blue and silver w/ 11.5K asking $13,500. Both bikes have the same level of equipment and both look superb and seem to run nice although the weather has been too crappy for a real road test. I heard some updates happened in 06. Like the color of 04 better.
So.....the question....which year do you prefer or no big deal
I'd take the '04 with the lower miles, provided it has cruise control. With either bike, ask the dealer if they inspected the cam tensioners. Also, with either you should know going in that you'll be replacing those with gear drive cams or upgrading to the '07 and newer hydraulic tensioners. Both bikes have low enough milage that this shouldn't be a big concern now, but when you hit 15K - 20K you should plan on doing that upgrade.

Good luck.
Great advice here. Always do your research prior to buying and doing upgrades.
Lower miles would be a factor for me due to simple things like brake and tire wear. (Probably has new tires though.) Overall condition of paint, clutch feel, etc. The '06 doesn't have high mileage for the model-year, but you might be able to use the mileage as a factor to obtain a better price. Also, which ever bike has been for sale the longest might get you the better deal. Memory fails me; I don't remember the stereo set-up comparing the '04 vs. '06. I'm thing that my '06 had the CD player, that might be a consideration over the '04 due to the cost to replace.
I had an '06 and it was flawless, never went in for any warranty work. I also had an '03; same thing.

The mileage wouldn't be a factor for me as much as the price. I would try and work the best deal on the one I liked the most. Look at history and maintenance records.
I would take the '06. With the little extra miles it may already have a new rear tire and any problems that it may have had have been discovered by now and been taken care of(hopefully). It does have the newer CD stereo. It will also have a greater book value in 2-3 years if you decide to sell or upgrade.
