Also, if your bike is FI check for leaking fuel lines inside the tank.
I had the main circuit breaker problem also. When it would trip out, everything on the bike went dead, no lights, no horn, no radio, no instruments. This doesn't sound like the problem that you described.

I would also tend to blame the IAC motor. If the engine was at idle speed at the time, look for threads on idle problems and you'll find quite a few relating to '07 bikes. I think your '06 uses the same IAC motor, and that may be the problem. Try cleaning the idle orifice with carb cleaner and if that doesn't work I would just replace the motor (~$40).

Hubby had the engine quit on us too. We were riding 2up, at highway speed and then....... nothing. He was startled, but coasted to an upright stop, without going onto the gravel shoulder. He was able to restart it. The dealer couldn't find a problem, but it happened again and finally we concluded the kill was caused by the high beams and cruise being on at the same time: the fuse was undersized.

Wow, never thought I'd get this many responses. Thanks. If and when it does it again or when I find out what the problem is, I'll post the solution. Hoping it just won't do it again. Where this happened really presented no dangerous hazard. If my wife had been in the back and we had been riding on a 4 or 5 lane interstate in 5 o'clock traffic, the outcome might have very well been different. Rather a scary thought.
