1. Battery disconnect is usually 1st step for any/all maint., but if just changing oil - not necessary. Note to self...just don't start bike after oil's drained...
2. No, use the 20W50 for motor, GO for tranny (75W90 or 75W140) and HD formula + for primary (or Spectro Promary fluid).

motor oil in the motor,gearlube in the gearbox and the ONLY place to use anything that says v twinn is the primary(v-twinn just means its safe for use on wet clutch).puting v twinn in motor is a waste of money.
