I just received my new shift linkage from D2Moto. Price was amazingly low for those of you who know the place, you'll know what I mean.
The thing is, it is REALLY lightweight. Clearly milled from some very lightweight aluminum (or??) and chromed. Looks good, but should I be concerned about it being so thin/narrow in some spots? I realize that the type of stress is straight pull/push (tensile strength/force) and material like that will surely handle it...but thought I'd ask if any of you have run the D2Moto linkage.
I just put mine on about 3 weeks now. You got the hemi joints with it correct?
Hey Plaza. Yeah, got the Heim joints and threaded sections with it. I need to go pick-up some nice cap bolts and lock nuts, etc to get 'er installed of course.
Yeah they came with it. I went to my local Sears hardware store and got chrome bolts to mount it up looks great and so far no problems. But yes you are correct it is light.
They refunded my money on my order. Out of stock! Maybe that was a good thing!??
Yeah - But $30 vs $120+ makes it worth trying it out.
I can't imagine it cracking, I am sure it's mostly perception thing (light = weak) which is certainly not always true. The way I sometimes stomp on my shifter, it's just makes me wonder. I admit, though, I'll have a spare linkage assembly in my saddlebag from now-on.
Nobody else running one of these linkage parts from D2Moto? Curious how it's holding-up for others.
I purchsed 2 off some company on E-bay last yr. Maybe $50. each.
with heim and they are feather light. I have used mine for about a
yr. with no probem, but I dont drive or shift like I stole it. But my
son is thinking it is to light weight to hold a heavy shoe. Tenn.Vol.
I bought a lightweight one off ebay too and wondered about it because it is thin in places due to the design. I decided to carry the stock linkage in my saddle bag....JUST IN CASE. I don't need it giving out in the middle of nowhere....but it sure looks cool!!
