Seems electrical by nature. All electrical power shuts off intermittently while riding. Slow, fast, smooth or bumps..doesn't matter. It's just long enough to kill the engine sometimes and other times it just stutters and the power comes back. Fires right back up and doesn't do it for a few hours or a few days.
Checked the grounds under the seat and the battery connections. Not sure if it's a relay or a fuse thing.
Similar problem with a friends bike. Power from the battery was fed to the hot side of the starter on the battery cable, then back to the fuse panel on a smaller gauge wire crimped to the same connector on the starter. The smaller wire broke at the crimp. He would have power, then suddenly loose everything, lights, instruments, ignition, everything. We rewired it with a new connector, but after some thought I should have just re-routed that lead to the hot side of the battery.
Start by checking the codes. When my 08 Ultra was shutting down while riding it was the ignition switch. The contacts got too hot. Replaced the switch and all was well. Could be something with the throttle sensor. There is a tech bulletin on cleaning the pins where it plugs in behind the AC (codes should reveal this). Any mods like handlebars, switch housings, etc. recently done?
Would love to check codes but both shops I've been to told me 9 and 12 days out!! I ride this most of the time for weeks to and from work.
I will check fuses for corrosion next. All Harness connections and wires seem tight. Had my ignition replaced under warranty a year back. It hasn't cut off now in two days.
