Friends laughed at my high tech Harley sprocket locking tool, a piece of 6 1/4" wood

First start up I immediately noticed the difference, no harsh "bang". Also noticed better clutch engagement.

Worth the effort IMO.
May I ask what the 1 3/4" wrench is needed for?

Using the piece of wood in the opposite direction eliminates the need for the super big wrench. I found it much easier that way than having to deal with two wrenches at once.

I just want to add my thanks to the original poster, bowa18. I put in my SE compensator yesterday and this thread made the job easier.

Thanks Man!

Default Question - Install?

I just installed my SE Compensator along with a chrome inner primary last evening, and am not sure if I have something wrong. To those of you who have done this, is it normal to be able to rotate by hand when in neutral the compensator back and forth so that it goes partially up and down the ramps in each direction? Everything is tight and torqued to specs and lines up fine. The other thing I notice related to this rotation is a clunk when turning off the bike as the compensator unloads. Any suggestions? Tx.

I was able to rotate the chain and sprockets but the were very tight. The discs are torqued against the spindle to provide friction to a point until the pressure againts the ramps starts pushing harder on the discs compressing them. So yes it sounds ok to me.
Regards
Barry

you should not be able to rotate the sprocket by hand easly... the spring diphrams washers provide pressure for this..make sure you have the disk installed correct..you shouldnt here any clunks...
