I have a 10" dark smoked generic shield purchased off ebay....
I wear contact lenses and cheapo safety sun glasses....
I'm also setting on a modified U/C seat.....
Absolutely no issues with wind, as on an occasion or two I have
forgotten my sunglasses and the wind doesn't bother my contacts.
I do have the 'plastic doo-hickey' installed on my forks under the fairing..
as it came this way from the factory and I haven't removed it.

Default FLTR wind turbulents and wind deflectors

I have an 09 Road Glide, and am 5ft 10. I bought the air deflectors
to cut down on the turbulents. I am running a Long Ride 10 inch windshield. I like the shield, but still have turbulents. I thought the wind deflector kit might help. The kit is for my 09 Road Glide. It won't fit due to plastic gas tank mount supports, added by the dealer.

The HD shop installed plastic gas tank mount support pieces where the deflectors snap onto the tank mount bolt. The bolt O.D. is now too large for the deflector. I was going to remove the new plastic pieces and remove plastic to get the deflectors to snap on.

I thought I would have to remove the gas tank. I didn't want to disconnect everthing, or pince wires.
Any ideas. I like that the wind splitter and deflectors worked, as did the
the Cee Baileys shield. I would rather not buy another windshield, if I can make this one work.
Thanks. This is my first post. Sorry it is so long.
I would like to hear my radio at 90.

My RG came with a 6" tinted shield. Looked good but didn't do much for blocking the breeze. No buffeting as my head was in relatively clear air (5'7" on a good day). Got a klockwerks 12 and wow, nice & quiet, no buffeting and no problem hearing the stereo at 80 at about half volumn.

I also have an 09 road glide. Saw a post on here before about someone fabricating spacers to go between the tank tabs and the frame. I don't know if there are any safety issues with modifying the tank mount, but here's what I did. I bought aluminum spacers from www.aluminumspacers.com , 1 1/2 inch stainless steel bolts, 1 inch outside diameter washers, (painted black because I couldn't find stainless steel of the right size) , and lock washers from the hardware store. The dimensions for the spacers are; the inside diameter is 5/16, outside diameter is 3/4, and the length is 1/2. Part number is AS75-16-32. Cost was minimal. Didn't have to take the tank off, just pull the plastic covers off the tank tab bolts, remove the bolts, put the spacer on the outside of the tank tab, with the longer bolt through it. The 1 inch washer is used on the outside of the spacer to keep the plastic tab on the deflector from sliding off. Worked great, but still have the buffeting. Mine has the half moon deflector between the forks also. I'm going to try removing that, as it may be working against the other. I looked at a 2011 road glide ultra in a showroom, and it had the plastic deflectors, but no half moon deflector. Heard that they also changed the fairing angle. Hopefully we can all find the right combination.
