my 2007 flht windshields have stressed cracked twice at the screw holes in 2500 miles. is this normal or is their an answer? the two year warranty is good so far but i would rather not go to the daeler to replace it every 1000 miles!
This is not normal, perhaps the screws are being tighten to much???? Also tighten starting in the middle and work out. The other thing could be that the fairing holes are made wrong in an off location.
Not normal at all . Check and make sure the screws are not too tight.
I found that if I tighten the screws in the sun while wearing (polarized) sunglasses , the shield will turn blue near the screws from the rear if it's a little too tight.
I would think this indicates too much stress.
I can't see this without the glasses on.
You might also want to see if the fairing seems to shake more than other peoples , and check the inner fairing braces (near the rear of the speakers) for cracks or breakage.
There seems to be a bunch of these braces breaking lately.
That should be under warantee also.
Let us know how you make out.
Mick
What everyone said plus, check alignment. There should be no gap whatsoever between inner fairing, shield, and outer fairing surfaces. It took me a little tweaking and a couple tries to get it right when I mounted my Fastaire shield.
