So I go to my local dealer and ask for a Harley Hammock Rider and Passenger seat (unheated) for my 2010 Ultra Classic. They give me part number 52000003. I get it home and try to install it and the damn thing doesn't fit. WTF? I not stupid, my wife thinks so but that's a different story about spending so much money on a motorcycle seat.
I don't get it. The seat will not go down to the frame in the middle and the chrome bracket on the back of the seat the screws down on the rear fender has a wierd angle to it. I just don't get it.
Anyone know if there is any identification numbers located on the seat somewhere that might give me a clue as to what the hell I've got for a seat.
i had the same issues with mine.i just looked at the box and that is the same part number as mine.its tricky getting it on but it will work. i really like my hammock seat.
same here, a little hard to fit the first time. excellent riding. the new version you and I have includes the same comfort for the passenger and has the new part number. Mike
Thank you everyone for the replies. This isn't the right seat, there is just no way. Even with the front slot just barely engaged with the tail on the tank the rear mount is an 1-1/2" from the screw hole and the rear mount is just all wrong the way it is angled. Box has the right number on it, 52000003 but it's the wrong seat in the right box, LOL! Damned idiots!, I new something was wrong because box looked like it had been opened and re-taped. I guess I'll have to burn a few gallons of the $4.10 a gallon gas to make the 30 mile round trip to the dealer and back to return it tomorrow in my 15 mi/gal. truck.
I had the same issue on my Street Glide. Look at your ECM, it has been bumped or shaken out of place. Put it back where it belongs and the seat will clear.
I haven't pulled my seat back off yet but when I do I am going to Velcro the ECM in place. Riding the bike with the seat sitting on the ECM could be an expensive problem.
