This has no doubt been discussed before, and I'm not the brightest bulb so bear with me...Getting ready to do the Stage 1 on a 2011 FLHTK. Ordered Jackpot mufflers, PC-V and SE stage 1 aircleaner kit. Concerns- 1.the backplate on the stock a/c has some wires clipped to the back- Do they go on the new SE backplate? 2. The service manual says remove the induction control bracket-remove tank etc. ( I have read just lift rear up with 2 x 4) and they're is a couple things clipped to the bracket--where do they go on the SE??
I'm sure you guys that have already done this "Mod" can enlighten me..Thanks ahead of time..
You sound like you are referring to the unused pigtail that is clipped to the rear? If so that is for HDI models active intake stuff and you would just ziptie it up in the rear and out of the way. You don't need to remove the tank and all, just take the old AC off and remove the bracket using a small allen wrench or you can lift the rear like you stated.
Got that with the wires clipped to the stock a/c backplate..There are two things clipped to the bracket that I am to remove..Zip tie them too???Or maybe refashion the bracket somehow?? Maybe just cut the ears off that bracket and reinstall..trying to figure this out before I get in there..
Just wait until the parts arrive. Everything will fall in place. It was so simple it was a pleasure to do it all. -once you have the parts in your mitts, it will be a snap. Check back then with your questions. Enjoy
I have a '10 FLHTK and I took that bracket off....it was a bitch to get those screws out with an allen wrench! I had two little chrome buttonhead screws that I put back in those holes...looks good! Everything worked out okay. You'll love the difference it makes with that Stage 1 a/c. Ride safe. Jr.
those are for your ACR so i did not just want them flopping around so I took a hacksaw and lopped the ears off the bracket and used the remaining bracket to keep them in thier original location.
mtclassic: A HA!! That's the little buggers I was trying to figure out.
Anyone have an extra one of those brackets?? (I'm kinda a purist- and hate cutting things up --I might change mind and go back to stock some day- or move SE to another bike..Who knows.. But that's a GREAT idea..
