Wreck 2
Uhhhhh sorry but if no one hit anyone then the guy did nothing wrong. If for some reason he had to stand on his brakes then thats his right. Evidently he seen something to cause him to jump on the brakes. You evidently were still too close and not looking 3 cars ahead. If you could not see past the truck then you double your follow distance and do your best to get out from behind him. He may not even know you went down then as lots of peoples dont always check their mirrors. The more this plays out the more it sounds like this one is your fault. Too many guys ride bikes like they drive their cars, can't do that. All the same I am sorry your daughter had to go down too. I rode alot with both my son and daughter on the back and would have really felt terrible is something happened to them. Hope you both heal fast. In the future always try to have a way around an object, steer your way out of trouble and stay off the brakes. Standing on the brakes is one of the worst things you can do on a bike. To avoid it extend your follow distances, always expect that cage to stop suddenly for no reason at all, or expect them to turn left in front of you, expect them to cut you off, expect them to back out of their driveways in front of you cause they will all the time while making eye contact with you. I watch guys all the time when they come up on an intersection or someone waiting to pull out and they never even tap their brakes much less back off the gas and most cases wont even look sideways at the cage that is probably gonna hit them. So if you get back on the bike just remember cages are out there with one purpose and that is to run you over.
One wreck is too much.....especially now with your daughter I know how you must feel. Leaving an accident scene, no matter who's fault, is a crime. Get healthy. Glad your here to tell us about it.
In the 1st accident, the guy pulled right in front of me, I had no time to react.
This time, no one hit anyone...The IDIOT driving the truck slammed on his brakes and stopped in the road...After braking, my front wheel turned under and then my bike hit gravel and we crashed. I do not ride to close up on anyone. I was being extremely careful riding...my daughter was with me! I think 2 wrecks in over 35 years of riding motorcycles speaks for itself.

two years ago had an accident -- going to fast on gravel minimal damage-got the bike repaired -- not 48 hours later guy leaving Lowes with junk in his bed unsecured--it leaves the truck bed and 2x2 hit the fairing of my bike -- went down -- road rash and a cut hand--you are absolutely correct --be very careful out there idiots come from everywhere
Well went down for the second time, this time with my 15 year old daughter on board, Not sure if anyone remembers me.. I smacked my 2007 SG front fender as some jag off was texting and slammed on his breaks ( 3 years ago ) Well this was the same type of accident except My daughter has broken wrist and bad road rash.. as for me 5 days in the hospital, 8 broken ribs, fractured sternum
punctured lung, and RR from hell... Yes I was wearing a helmet.
This happened last week, witnesses said a young kid was seen fleeing the scene. Other people that had to avoid that idiot was very helpful calming my daughter and my self until ambulance got there.
As far as my bike, very minimal damage, just a few scratches...
Be careful Fellas...

Either way, i'm in the process of recovery so I wish the OP the best. I know it sucks!
First of all, I do not follow to close to other vehicles, In the area I live there are a lot of kids driving, talking on a cell, texting, jacking with his stereo, etc...
But this new thing there doing is called swaging, they make wide zig zags in the lane cutting off people, this kid miscalculated got in the oncoming lane and had to panic stop, therer was two other cars had to avoid him and veer to the shoulder.
This is what I was told by the other drivers involved...
May I did grab too much front brake, but for someone to be reckless enough to cause an incident and to bolt and he watches two people bounce down the shoulder is just not right...
It's called failure to stop and render aid.

No I am saying I would have never hit him or had to stand on my brakes. The more you say the more I think why in the hell were you that close to him if he was driving in the manner you say he was. If he was doing as you say, then he could have hit a brick wall and I would have slowed to a stop because I would have dropped waaaay back from an A-hole like that. As soon as he swerved I would have already been on the brakes.
Only you know exactly what happened and what could have happened thus no one should judge you. I am VERY glad to hear that you are OK and even more glad to hear that your daughter got the least of it. May you and your daughter heal up quick and get back to doing what you love...
