Default Too QUIET!!!

My 2011 103ci SG is just not loud enough! I thought i'd just ride it in stock form for a year or two.....but that didn't happen. I sold my stretched hardtail sporty, and decided to go for comfort this time. By the time i got the 500 mile break-in done, i knew i couldn't leave the exhaust stock. I bought Cobra 4" slip-ons and installed them. It is barely any louder than stock! I'm curious how much of a difference removing the cat will make??? Someday i'll buy the Jackpot 2/1/2 headpipe(just don't have the money now). I'm just hoping removing the cat will let enough sound out that i'll be able to hear my engine....and maybe give my right leg a break from all the heat!!! Are there any downfalls to removing the cat(other than possible EPA issues)? And WILL this make my bike any LOUDER???

I removed the cat on my 2011 SG and am now very happy with the sound. Try it first and then you may not make any exhaust changes.

Default Sound

By taking out the cat how does that help the sound?

I took the cat out last night! It sounds much better sitting in the garage. It was too foggy out to ride to work this morning, so won't know for sure until this evening. As far as taking the cat out to help the sound.....it would be easier to understand if you could see a picture of the cat. It's like having a 6" filter shoved into your exhaust. I took off my right side muffler and started the bike(before and after i removed the cat). It made a big difference in the sound!

Take it from a rider w/tinnitus - loud isn't always healthy on the ears. Ringing doesn't go away...

Well, took the bike out for a short rise after work....I'm still not happy with it!!! Now I'm planning to pull my baffles out and remove the packing material, then re-install the baffles. I'm thinking this shouldn't change anything performance wise, but hopefully a bit more noise!
