My 2010 UG Classic is the same today for finding neutral as it was 5400 miles ago. No trick, just gotta get the feel. Every bike is a little different. I rarely have a problem.
Ditto - same with my 10 UC. It was tricky when I first got it but you will develop the feel over time and it will cease to be a problem. I've heard others say that different tranny lubricants will make neutral easier to find but I never noticed any difference FWIW.
Thanks for all the input. This is about what I figured but it's nice to hear others have had the same issue. I try to put it in neutral while rolling to a stop but the stop comes before I find N. I like part of the solution - "ride more"! I plan to do that part with no problem. Sounds like a little synthetic in the tranny is the way to go too.
Hey one advantage of big feet! My size 14 boot can span the heal to tow shifter and just a slight tilt of the foot will slip right into neutral. If I try to use just the heal or just the tow it seems to snap right past neutral. Try your foot in a little on the shifter arm and slightly put pressure on the heal and the tow keeps it from snapping on by into 2nd. Really works slick.
So glad you guys posted this. I had an '06 FLTRI and it was stubborn compared to my Star Warrior, but NOTHING like my new '11 FLHRC. I sit there clicking 1st to 2nd for a good 45 seconds before just giving up most times.
